ULAANBAATAR
Arrival in the morning. Reception at the airport and transfer to the city for breakfast.departure for the Khenti steppe and Mount Bayangol.
Day 2
KHENTI
KHENTI
Continuation to Khan-Khentii massif and Basin region of the Onon River. this region covered with large forests is ideal for a first contact with Mongolian rivers. Its rich hydrographic network and its average altitude of 1600m are all conditions for a fruitful fishing. Fishing rod finally mounted, we set out to conquer the LENOK and HUCHO TAIMEN trout, shade or pike by avoiding the frogs that croak in numbers in the neighboring marshes. Throwing a floating rapala of 6 cm, the key is made. On an improvised grill, we taste our first fish.
Day 3
DAYS 3 – 6: BARKH RIVERS. EGIIN GOL . BAYANGOL
DAYS 3 – 6: BARKH RIVERS. EGIIN GOL . BAYANGOL
This region reveals its treasures. Between medium mountains, vast expanses of forests where birch and larch are concentrated, and deep valleys, flow the most mythical rivers in the history of Mongolia. Cradle of Genghis Khan, the rivers of the Khentii are also famous for its waters abundant in a rich variety of fish. Trout and salmon with a combative temperament wait to spin at the end of our line... but it is the famous Huchon Taïmen, the largest salmonid in the world that we have in mind. Reaching 2 meters and 80 kg, it watches during the night for rodents that swim across the river. Continuing our route south of the Kherlen River we then go up north of the Khentii on the Onon River.
Day 4
DAYS 7 TO 8: ONON RIVER
DAYS 7 TO 8: ONON RIVER
We fish early in the morning and late afternoon, when fishing is most favourable. Virgin and cold waters, fast flow and pure environment form this natural setting conducive to miraculous catches. Our activity seems to surprise our nomadic neighbors. Guided by an expert in the field, leaving a spot to join a new one, our trip takes on the appearance of a "fisherman-nomad". We finally settled in Dadal's camp, near the Onon River. Close to forests and lakes, Gurvan Nuur is also famous for feeding the Khan with his water in person. Confluence area, our camp also allows us to fish on the Balj River.
